Healthcare professionals gather to update skills at Penang conference

OVER 300 participants, comprising local general practitioners and industry players, took part in the 26th Penang Teaching Conference for General Practitioners, organised by the Malaysian Medical Association (MMA) Penang Branch, held at Bayview Hotel Georgetown Penang.

 

The conference was open to all primary healthcare doctors, including MMA members and non-members from both the private and government sectors, offering them an opportunity to update and enhance their knowledge and skills.

 

Organising chairman Datuk Dr Parmjit Singh noted that the three-day conference has returned to a physical format this year after three years of being held virtually.

“The conference aims to engage, educate, and inspire participants, offering a comprehensive exploration of the latest advancements and best practices in healthcare,” he said in his speech today.

 

The 26th Penang Teaching Conference for General Practitioners, organised by the MMA Penang Branch, runs from Aug 2 to 4.

 

Penang Youth, Sports, and Health Committee chairman Daniel Gooi commended the MMA Penang Branch for its unwavering commitment and tireless efforts in organising this prestigious event.

Gooi also addressed the findings of the National Health and Morbidity Survey 2023 by the Ministry of Health (MoH).

 

“The survey highlighted key issues such as the prevalence of diabetes and obesity, which are crucial for the industry to address.

 

“I believe that this forum will tackle some of these issues, and I wish everyone a fruitful meeting,” he added.
