Help pours in for 18-month-old fire victim

THE Lions Club of Penang Queen (LCPG) has come to aid of a family whose toddler is suffering from some severe burns from a fire incident recently.

LCPG members, together with Pulau Tikus assemblyman Chris Lee Chun Kit, visited 18-month-old Low Cean How at the Penang Hospital on Feb 13.

They later presented a mock cheque for RM25,000 to Cean Ming, the 23-year-old brother of Cean How.

Cean How is being treated for second degree burns on his head, face and ear and more severe burns on both arms following a fire that happened at Bagan Sena (Block B flat) in Kulim, Kedah on Jan 31.

“Doctors have predicted that he would need at least three months of treatment before he could be on the road to recovery,” LCPG representative Veronique Quah, told a press conference at the Penang Hospital Children’s Ward.

“We will contribute RM1,000 as a monthly allowance for Cean How over a period of 25 months.

“Out of this, RM500 will be used to buy household amenities and RM500 cash for his daily
expenses and that of his family.

“Our LCPQ members will also take turns in scheduling monthly visits to check on Cean How’s
progress, bringing with them our blessings.”

Lee said his constituency would continue to offer support in terms of funding to those like Cean How to lessen their sufferings.

“Today’s fund collection for Cean How is just the beginning,” he added.
