THE Mutiara Food Bank came forward to donate some provisions to a group of 10 fishermen in Batu Maung, Penang, today.
Fishermen Information Centre representatives Noraini Mad Zin and Qhidir Subri, who helped to coordinate the distribution, brought the goody bags containing rice, cooking oil, tea packets, biscuits and some snacks for the fishermen.
“We understand that some of the them need some help as their income is affected by the movement control order,” said Noraini at the Persatuan Nelayan Pulau Pinang Selatan (Unit Nelayan, Permatang Tepi Laut).
Permatang Tepi Laut Fishermen Unit chief Mohd Kassim Mohamed thanked Mutiara Food Bank for their assistance.
“We’re appreciative of whatever help, big or small, that we receive. The most important thing is that the fishermen are remembered during this time,” Mohd Kassim said.
He added that Bayan Baru MP Sim Tze Tzin and Batu Maung assemblyman Datuk Abdul Halim Hussain had previously contributed some provisions to 10 and 20 fishermen respectively from his association.
He welcomes any form of aid for more members of his association.
