THE Persatuan Penganut Dewa Arulmigu Om Sakthi Muniswarar received RM26,000 from Bukit Gelugor MP Ramkarpal Singh today for the upgrading and renovation works of their temple as well as the community hall.
Ramkarpal, who presented the contribution to the temple management, said the amount donated would be used for the painting works of both the temple and its community hall.
“The Bukit Gelugor parliamentary office is giving out this contribution to assist the temple management in the painting works of the interior and exterior of the temple and the community hall.
“The renovation work is almost done and is expected to be completed in two months’ time. We will be coming here again to check on its progress,’’ said Ramkarpal after presenting the cheque to the temple chairman Logason Ramaiah.
Also accompanying Ramkarpal during the cheque presentation ceremony was Batu Uban assemblyman A. Kumaresan.
Meanwhile, Logason said the total cost of the renovation and upgrading work is RM670,000. He also encouraged all Penangites to utilise the hall to organise various events.
“We are offering a reasonable price for all Penangites to use the community hall for events such as weddings and even to conduct tuition classes for the community. For those charitable events, we will be only imposing minimal charges.
“Apart from that, we are also in the midst of setting up a Digital Library at another portion of the hall.
“The Digital Library will most probably be open to the public in March next year. They can enjoy its service without any charges as we want especially our youngsters to benefit from it.
“YB Kumaresan has promised to contribute five laptops for our Digital Library project,’’ added Logason.
