IN its efforts to raise awareness and equip the Cancer Fund this breast cancer awareness month, Penang Adventist Hospital organised a fundraising initiative titled ‘100 Pink Bliss – Mat Pilates for a Cause.’
Held at Citadines Connect Georgetown on Oct 13, the 60-minute mat pilates session, which was expertly led by three dedicated instructors from Jabfit Pilates & Yoga, drew the participation of 100 enthusiastic individuals.
The venue was transformed into a sea of pink, with vibrant pink workout mats filling the courtyard.
While the primary objective was to raise funds for the Cancer Fund, which is used to support cancer patients in need of cancer treatment, the hospital also aspired to educate the community about breast cancer, and emphasised the importance of regular check-ups and self-examinations.
In a media statement, PAH stated that mat pilates is a form of exercise that benefits both men and women by promoting fitness and health. The hospital also highlighted the misconception that pilates is only suitable for women.
The initiative aims to raise RM100,000 with RM89,000 collected.
When contacted, PAH’s Charity Department staff urged the public to continue supporting the cause to ensure the fundraising targets is RM100,000.
Notably, four men were among the 100 participantas, showing support for the course.
In 2023 alone, PAH disbursed RM453,733 in aid, assisting 23 beneficiaries, reflecting the mission to help those in need.
State Social Development, Welfare, and Non-Islamic Religious Affairs Committee chairman Lim Siew Khim graced and officiated the event.
