WITH its excellent development concept, the Penang government is hoping that the Penang International Commercial City (PICC) could be a refreshing and outstanding landmark in Penang.
Chief Minister Chow Kon Yeow hoped that the forthcoming Hunza Group’s project would not only inject a new lease of life to the state, but also be a catalyst for growth in Penang.
“The development concept of green, safe, smart and good connectivity is set to provide thousands of job opportunities and bring in foreign investments.
“Hunza has risen to the challenge and achieved another significant milestone. My heartiest congratulations go out to the Group and its founder Datuk Seri Khor Teng Tong for this remarkable achievement.
“I hope that Hunza will continue to be one of the nation’s leading players in this industry,” he said in his speech at Hunza’s 40th anniversary celebration at Setia SPICE Convention Centre today.
Chow said that he envisioned Penang 2030 – a family-focused green and smart state that inspires the nation – and that the state continues to bring new ideas forward.
“We consider every view and idea from various segments of the society and individuals, with the objective to make Penang more liveable and sustainable,” he said.
He also stressed that Penang needs to be efficiency-driven and innovation-driven.
Hunza Group executive director Khor Tze Ming welcomed the 1,000-odd guests during her opening speech.
She congratulated the company and the staff for their hard work and dedication.
Tze Ming also said that the Group founder had been an inspiration to the Group.
Hunza Group managing director Datuk Khor Siang Gin spoke about PICC in his speech.
“As we continue to enjoy a rising profile, we have set our sight on achieving a bigger dream.
“The PICC, our integrated smart commercial township, had been designed to be in line with the Penang 2030 vision.
“At PICC, we are committed to deliver a greener, safer, smarter and family-focussed living concept.
“The integrated smart components will be the core of the development. It will create thousands of job opportunities and inflow of foreign investments,” he said.
Siang Gin thanked the supporters for the years of trust rendered to the Group.
Hunza Group also contributed RM500,000 to the state’s scholarship programme Penang Future Foundation.
The guests were treated to amazing performances from Hunza’s very own talented staff ‘Hunzakuts’, Euphoria Penang and artiste Shila Amzah.
The Group also rewarded their long-serving staff during the long service award ceremony.
