THE 18th edition of IME Innovation Day successfully brought together industry professionals from over a thousand companies nationwide, serving as a launchpad for new collaborations and technological advancements within Malaysia’s design and manufacturing sectors.
Held at the Butterworth Arena on October 8, the annual event was officiated by Penang Deputy Chief Minister II Jagdeep Singh Deo.
In his keynote address, Jagdeep praised the event for encapsulating the spirit of innovation and collaboration.
“IME Innovation Day champions the theme ‘Together We Create’, a mantra that resonates deeply with our shared ambition to foster an ecosystem of technological advancement and economic prosperity,” Jagdeep said.
He commended the IME Group of Companies for their dedication to organising the event and noted the theme’s significance in today’s rapidly evolving technological landscape.
“In an era where individual efforts are dwarfed by the power of collective action, this theme becomes not just a slogan but a guiding principle.
Events like this showcase what can be achieved when we work together,” he remarked.
He also highlighted the collaboration between industry veterans like IME, governmental bodies such as Mimos Berhad and the Northern Corridor Implementation Authority (NCIA), trade associations like the Malaysia Semiconductor Industry Association (MSIA), and academic institutions including the Penang Skills Development Centre (PSDC).
Jagdeep emphasised that this synergy exemplifies the kind of partnerships needed to drive Malaysia’s technological progress, ensuring the country remains competitive on a global scale.
IME Group founder and director TK Teoh underscored the event’s role as not only a showcase for groundbreaking advancements but also as a catalyst for fostering partnerships across various sectors.
“The IME Innovation Day aims to inspire participants to contribute to Malaysia’s innovation ecosystem, ensuring the nation remains at the forefront of Industry 4.0,” Teoh said.
He emphasised the importance of collaboration among industry members, academia, associations, and the government.
“‘Together We Create’ urges us all to work collectively, adopting a holistic approach that is crucial for sustainable development and continued innovation,” he added.
