HOME quarantine knowledge is significantly important for the public to help control the transmission of Covid-19, says state Youth and Sports Committee chairman Soon Lip Chee.
He said many people are not really well-versed with home quarantine process during a virtual programme on ‘Sembang Covid-19: Home Quarantine’ yesterday.
“I believe that many are facing a challenging time when being ordered to quarantine at home for a certain period of time.
“Many of our daily routines have seen a lot of changes, especially in these two years due to the pandemic.
“There are also many people who had lost their source of income and are facing various challenges.
“Hence, I hope that this programme will help many to understand more about home quarantine practices,” he said.
The programme was organised by Penang Youth Development Corporation (PYDC), with the cooperation of St John Ambulance Malaysia State Disaster Squad Penang and Balik Pulau Polytechnic.
It was also jointly organised by the youth centres from Pulau Betong, Penaga, Bertam and Balik Pulau.
Soon added that he was pleased with the participation from the various agencies and hoped that every participant would benefit from the sharing.
During the sharing session, various topics were discussed, including the importance of following the quarantine instructions, personal hygiene like the importance of wearing face masks, home ventilation and instructions for family members of infected patients.
Also joining the virtual session were Pulau Betong assemblyman Mohd Tuah Ismail, PYDC general manager Dr Gwee Sai Ling, PYDC deputy general manager Ng Hooi Ting, St John Ambulance Malaysia (Penang chapter) medical officer Dr Tan Kean Chye, Penang Hospital surgical officer Dr Suaran Singh and St John Ambulance Malaysia (Penang chapter division officer Ooi Teik Hwa.
Others who also took part included Balik Pulau youth centre coordinator Edward Tan, Penaga youth centre coordinator Mohd Yusri Mustafa, Bertam youth centre coordinator Shahidan Saaid, Pulau Betong youth centre coordinator Ramlah and Balik Pulau polytechnic digital development head Rasammal Rasappan.
