PENANG remains steadfast in its commitment to upgrading its various infrastructure projects to attract more investments to the state.
As a key economic force in the country, propelled by its accomplishments in the manufacturing sector, Chief Minister Chow Kon Yeow reiterated the state’s commitment to maintaining this remarkable growth during his attendance at the PENFEIA 22nd New Committee and Advisors Board swearing-in ceremony held at Vangohh Eminent Hotel in Bukit Mertajam today.
“We aim to upgrade the infrastructure projects, which include the plans to address the traffic congestion, expand the Penang International Airport (PIA), implement the Light Rail Transit (LRT) railway project, and expedite the Perak-Penang Water Scheme.
“Aside from this, we will work closely with various stakeholders in the state, including the Penang Foundry and Engineering Industries Association (PENFEIA). We will strive our best to address the concerns raised by them.
“We hope to provide an ideal business ecosystem for the stakeholders to ensure Penang prospers further,” said Chow in his speech.
Chow extended his deepest appreciation to PENFEIA for contributing to the state’s growth, and for being an integral bridge between the government agencies and manufacturers.
He lauded PENFEIA for its role as a conduit for information, providing crucial assistance to government agencies, and spurring the state’s growth.
“Penang has always been one of the top three states in Malaysia in terms of economic prowess, growth and investment attraction.
“Penang’s approved investment amount was as high as RM71.9 billion last year, equivalent to 22% of Malaysia’s overall investment. The manufacturing sector stands out as one of the leading contributors.
“Besides that, the manufacturing industry is the backbone of the country’s and state’s economies,” he said.
Chow also thanked the Federal Government for assisting the state with its infrastructure projects.
PENFEIA president Datuk Richard Teh expressed that he looked forward to the implementation of the LRT project in Penang, affirming the industry’s commitment to providing necessary support to the state.
Among the present distinguished guests during the event were Bukit Tambun assemblyman Goh Choon Aik, Machang Bubok assemblyman Lee Khai Loon, Kebun Bunga assemblyman Lee Boon Heng, and Seberang Perai City Council (MBSP) councillor Ong Jing Cheng.
