THE future for young innovators and entrepreneurs in Penang looks promising, thanks to the state’s initiative to embark on an entrepreneurial mindset among its youths.

Stare Local Government, Town and Country Planning Committee chairman H’ng Mooi Lye foresees a brighter prospect for the future generation, especially with the engagement and enthusiasm shown by them.

He highlighted the success of the Penang2030 Innovation Bootcamp for Secondary School Students as a shining example of this vision.

“We embarked on this journey with a clear goal to foster an innovative mindset among them.

“They can shine in Penang,” he said during the Penang2030 Innovation Bootcamp at Penang Science Cluster (PSC) in George Town today.

Supported by the state government, the bootcamp was a movement to empower our youths to be the drivers of social and economic change.

Having observed their innovative projects, H’ng acknowledged and appreciated the creative ideas demonstrated by the young minds. H’ng expressed his sincere gratitude to PSC for their leadership in organising the bootcamp and for their dedication as facilitators.

“Your innovative ideas and entrepreneurial ventures are key to our state’s prosperity and sustainability,” he said.

Batu Uban assemblyman A. Kumaresan, who is also a member of the Science and Technology Committee, was amazed at the creativity shown by the youths.

“At the age of 15, they can come out with innovation projects, and present their works well,” he said, praising their remarkable achievement.

H’ng, Kumaresan, and other guests also joined the tour and visited the students’ booths.

Chung Ling High School emerged the champions of the Penang2030 Innovation Bootcamp and walked away with RM500 top prize; SMJK Heng Ee Bayan Baru finished as the first runners-up, earning a RM300 cash prize while SMK Kampong Dato’ Ahmad Said and SMK Permatang Pasir finished joint fourth, each receiving RM200 cash prize.
