A HEALTH carnival and blood donation programme, themed ‘Together, We Save Lives’, is scheduled at SJK (C) Kwang Hwa in Butterworth on April 28 from 10am to 3pm.
The Bagan Jermal service centre organises the event in collaboration with the Bagan Jermal Women and Family Development Committee (JPWK Bagan Jermal), Penang Youth Committee (JBPP), Penang Sehati Sejiwa Welfare Association, Penang Hati Penyayang Welfare Association and Big Pharmacy.
Bagan Jermal assemblyman Chee Yeeh Keen announced that alongside the blood donation initiative, the event will offer health screenings, public exhibitions showcasing health vehicles, and simultaneous demonstrations of cardiopulmonary resuscitation (CPR) using automated external defibrillators (AEDs).
While the organisers aim to accommodate 400 to 500 participants, only 400 goodie bags will be distributed on a first-come, first-served basis.
“This programme offers significant benefits as it not only covers first aid but also educates the public on handling emergencies, such as child choking, blood donation, and health screenings.
“With over 10 activities planned for this event, I urge more people to join the health carnival, as it offers an opportunity to acquire valuable experience and knowledge on health-related topics.
“Furthermore, we will promote the event via our Facebook page to raise awareness among the wider community,” Chee said during the press conference at the Bagan Jermal service centre on Jalan Raja Uda today.
Also present were Wang Lee Lee, chairman of JPWK Bagan Jermal; Tan See Qing, chairman of JBPP Bagan Jermal; Kwek Choon Hau, vice chairman of Code Blue Rescue Team; Lim Yi Yin, director of KC Ambulance Services; Leaw Chi Choo, chairman of Sian Chay Medical Institution and Tan Chin Seng, chairman of the New Ferry Volunteer Firefighters Organisation.
