THE Penang State Christmas Open House at St. Anne’ Church on Dec 9 was filled with much fanfare and excitement as a string of performances was staged which ensured everyone had loads of fun.

From names like Supernatural Indian Dance, Joe Pragasam and the 40 Indonesian maidens from DOA Service Centre – there were no shortage of songs, dances and plays for the invited guests to experience the joy of Christmas.

Chief Minister Chow Kon Yeow, in his speech as the guest of honour, noted the importance of peace and acceptance of the differences that Malaysians have among themselves.

“Many people do not realise how important it is to have peace and that is the reason why there is so much fighting and war as well as conflict. Once we have peace in our hearts, we can have peace in ourselves and we can have peace with God,” Chow said.

“Then we can live in peace with all the people around us – our families, our neighbours, our colleagues and all our fellow citizens. We do not have to fight them or try to control them, or even take advantage of them,” he added.

Also present were state exco member Chong Eng, Bishop of Penang Rt. Rev. Sebastian Francis, CFM Liaison Committee Penang chairman A. Arokiadass, NECF Northern Region representative Rev. Sam Surendran and CCM Penang chairman Rev. Christopher Tan.
