JUNIOR Chambers International (JCI) Bayan Chapter has raised RM100,000 from its inaugural Charity Golf Tournament held on January 19 at the Penang Golf Club in Bukit Jambul.
Proceeds of the event will be used to purchase 10 units of automated external defibrillator (AED) which will then be donated to the Penang Public Ambulance Services.
The ambulance services is endorsed by the Penang CPR Society, which is part of the Penang Heartsafe Programme launched by the Penang government in 2015.
“This event will not be made possible without our sponsors, Bank of Singapore and Datuk Ng Chai Eng from UWC Holdings, with their contribution of RM42,500 each,” organising chairman Yen Wei Yun said in his speech.
JCI Bayan president Martin Ng Chin Liang said they are a small group of young people who are dedicated to be active citizens to contribute to society.
“We believe in the power of small,” he stressed.
JCI Bayan is part of Junior Chambers International, a worldwide non-profit, non-govermental organisation for people aged from 18 to 40 to develop their leadership and promote active citizenship.
