PENANG’S domestic tourism is off to a good start as the state’s economy regains its momentum during the recovery movement control order (RMCO) period.
State Tourism Development, Arts, Culture and Heritage Commitee chairman Yeoh Soon Hin said the state has many places of attraction and the Jerejak Island is definitely one of the destinations that travellers must visit.
“The Jerejak Island, which houses the Jerejak Island Resort and Jerejak Pantai Ku, is a very good destination for visitors. It is popular among Penangites and tourists from other states.
“The number of domestic travellers to Penang has been increasing and I have confidence that our tourism economy can recover soon,” he said after visiting the Jerejak Island today.
Yeoh said that the island had transformed into one of the most Instagrammable destinations in Penang.
“The Jerejak Island is rich in history and heritage besides its amazing scenery and attractions.
“We hope that the island can attract more visitors to Penang,” he added.
Yeoh also lauded the cashless transaction system on the island.
“I understand that the management has initiated the cashless transaction system on Jerejak Island. In this era of digitalisation, smart tourism is the way forward.
“We encourage tourism operators in Penang to embark on this digital journey together,” Yeoh said.
Teh Kok Liang, one of the business partners of Jerejak Pantai Ku Penang, said that the island received more than 1,000 visitors per day on weekends and public holidays.
His business partner Sean Teh welcomed travellers to visit and experience the beauty of Jerejak Island.
