TO ensure that the unity government wins the upcoming state election, all parties must ensure that they set aside differences and address obstacles that come their way, says caretaker Chief Minister Chow Kon Yeow.
“The decision of all parties to work together under the umbrella of the unity government for the upcoming state election is something to be appreciated and accepted,” Chow said during a press conference after attending the Malaysia Book of Records certificate presentation ceremony at the Penang Hajj Gallery today.
Chow was responding to a question by media regarding the decision made by MCA and MIC not to contest in the upcoming state elections which are set to take place on Aug 12.
“The political parties have decided not to contest in the upcoming state elections and have voiced out their eagerness to join together in the election campaign to ensure that the unity government wins in the respective states,” Chow said.
The state election will involve a total of six states, namely Penang, Selangor, Negeri Sembilan, Kedah, Kelantan and Terengganu.
Separately, Chow said that the Penang state election manifesto for the upcoming state elections would contain the elements of Penang2030.
“Penang2030 has always been our agenda but we might not be able to outline all the aspects of the Penang2030 in the manifesto.
“The content will be focused on the things we would like to implement,” Chow said.
