UNDERSTANDING the plight of needy students from the B40 group in her constituency, Sungai Pinang assemblyman Lim Siew Khim is collaborating with Lum Yeong Tong Yap Temple Youth Section to collect reusable laptops and tablets.

Lim said the target was to collect 100 reusable laptops and tablets to help reduce the burden of a family with many children.

She added that her service centre would screen through applications and ensure that only eligible students would be entitled for it.

” Besides, smartphones and computers can be donated by well-wishers as well.

“All parts and software will then be checked by the designated maintenance personnel to ensure that they can be used,” she said at a press conference at her service centre in Jalan Ahmad Nor today.

Lum Yeong Tong Yap Temple Youth Section secretary Yeap Poh Looi said the initiative was initiated after receiving feedback from many B40 families to assist them in providing reusable computers.

Also present were Lum Yeong Tong Yap Temple Youth Section chairman Kenny Yeap.

Those who are interested to donate computers can submit them to Lum Yeong Yap Temple, 71 Armenian Street, 10200 Penang (012-4271992) or Sungai Pinang service centre, 3-03-01, Jalan Ahmad Nor, 11600 Penang (04-6576630, 0103824483) by Dec 15.
