THE festive spirit lit up the faces of 150 orphans and disabled children from 10 welfare homes across the state as they enjoyed an array of exciting performances during the annual ‘Christmas Programme for the Community’.

Organised by the Padang Kota constituency service centre, the event was held at the Penang Chinese Town Hall (PCTH) today, offering an unforgettable experience filled with games, handicraft activities, carol singing, and special Christmas gifts for each child.

Chief Minister Chow Kon Yeow, who also serves as the Padang Kota assemblyman, highlighted the significance of the season in his address.

Chow highlighted the significance of the season in his address.

“This year’s theme, ‘Celebrating God’s Love’, encapsulates the essence of Christmas – a time to reflect on the love, compassion, and kindness that unite us as a community,” Chow said.

He further stressed that Christmas is not only a season of joy but also an opportunity to reaffirm shared values and foster togetherness.

“The activities today, from games and crafts to carols and performances, go beyond mere entertainment.

Reflecting on the broader impact of such initiatives, Chow noted that programmes like this are instrumental in creating a compassionate and inclusive society, aligning with the state’s Penang2030 vision.

“Let this celebration remind us that every act of kindness contributes to our shared goal of building a harmonious and resilient community.

“As we enjoy today’s festivities, let us carry the spirit of Christmas with us throughout the year, spreading love, joy, and peace wherever we go. Merry Christmas to all!” he concluded.
