THE setting up of the Women and Family Development Committee (JPWK) as a platform for women and family development this year has been well-received.
State Women and Family Development, Gender Inclusiveness and Religions Other than Islam Committee chairman Chong Eng said JPWK, which was aimed at meeting the Penang2030 vision target, had already carried out a total of 346 programmes up to date this year.
“The programmes on women, family development and community conducted by the JPWK in 40 state constituencies had attracted 80,000 people from all walks of life.
“This clearly shows the importance of JPWK in steering the state to realising its Penang2030 vision.
“The JPWK also serves as a driver of change, especially for women in the state,”she told a press conference at Harmony Centre today.
The JPWK is led by Chong Eng, with the support of the Penang Women’s Development Corporation (PWDC) and the state assemblymen.
Chong Eng said the programmes carried out were towards forming a better family institution and community.
“I hope this remarkable feat will continue,”she said.
Also present was PWDC chief executive officer Ong Bee Leng.
Ong praised the role of JPWK.
Earlier, Chong Eng, accompanied by Ong, gave out appreciation certificates to the JPWK representatives in accordance with the star rating system.
