TWO-TERM Batu Kawan MP Kasthuriraani Patto will be back to help in the election campaign next week.

Chief Minister Chow Kon Yeow said Kasthuri, as she is better known, is currently away attending an international conference in a South American country from early this week.

Chow is now the Pakatan Harapan candidate to replace Kasthuri for the Batu Kawan parliamentary seat contest in the 15th General Election (GE15).

“She did not make any announcement, but she did inform me that she was going to attend the conference either in Brazil or Argentina.

“She will be back here the following week and she will join us in the campaign,” said Chow after being asked by a reporter why Kasthuri was not seen in Chow’s campaigning team.

Earlier, Chow had his breakfast together with the rest of the campaign team at Mustafa Restaurant in Perai.

He was warmly greeted by the restaurant staff and some patrons who were there.

Joining Chow for breakfast were Deputy Chief Minister II Prof Dr P. Ramasamy, who is Perai assemblyman, Pengkalan Kota assemblyman Daniel Gooi, and Seberang Perai City Council (MBSP) councillor and campaign director David Marshall.

As the campaign period entered its fourth day, Chow was full of optimism after having conducted a series of walkabouts in Batu Kawan.

“The response has been good over the past three days and we have also received various feedback, especially on welfare assistance to the poor and those with physical challenge issues.

“The assemblymen’s office and the Village Community Management Councils (MPKKs) have processed their applications. Hopefully, they will get their good news soon,” he said, adding that there were some land issues in Perkampungan Juru which would be addressed as well.

Chow and his entourage also visited various hawker stalls at Chai Leng Park under the Perai state constituency for another greet-and-meet session.

There, he and his team spent about 30 minutes engaging with the hawkers and the public.

Dr Ramasamy and Gooi also took part in the walkabout.

In addition, Chow and his team distributed 2023 calendars to the constituents.
