SHOPPERS at Kompleks Bukit Jambul can expect a month-long of excitement as the mall launched a Malaysia Day Rewards Programme 2020, known as ‘KBJ DuaPuluh20 Rewards’, to give away free cash vouchers for selected purchases.
It is in conjunction with the 63rd Merdeka Day celebration this year as Malaysia turns 63 today.
Launched on Aug 30, the programme will end on Sept 30.
Customers can redeem cash vouchers (RM20 each) in two ways.
The first way is to spend RM180 and above in three combined original receipts for fashion, bags, shoes, accessories, hair saloon, beauty and spa and food & beverages.
The second way is to spend RM380 and above in a single original receipt for mobile, computer, gadgets, textiles, jewelry, watches, optical and grocery outlets.
State International and Domestic Trade, Consumer Affairs and Entrepreneurship Development Committee chairman Datuk Abdul Halim Hussain said apart from rewarding customers, this programme also aims at encouraging buyers to support the local medium and small business owners.
“By shopping local, you are not only helping a particular business to operate, but also lending a hand in the state’s initiative to continuously revive local economy that was affected by the Covid-19 pandemic.
“Look around us; these local business owners don’t have big capital to survive a long-term economic crisis, but they are still striving here with us today,” said Halim during the Malaysia Day Rewards Programme 2020 launching ceremony at Kompleks Bukit Jambul on Aug 30.
The programme was jointly organised by KBJ and the Penang state government.

KBJ Joint Management Body chairman K.H. Chan said the one-month programme would look to attract more customers to shop at the mall as well as to increase sales.
“The idea of this programme was derived from our most successful events that we had previously organised. It was discovered that by giving away cash vouchers to shoppers, our merchants and tenants saw an increase in their sales.
“Of course, it has been a challenging period for all of us. We will be standing together with all our merchants and tenants, for they are also striving with us to revive the economy with great momentum and efforts.
“I would like to thank the Penang government for supporting our efforts and hope to have continuous support in the future,” Chan said in his speech.
