PERTUBUHAN Tarian Singa dan Naga Hong Teik from Kedah became the champion in the Kompleks Bukit Jambul Lion Dance Championship
2016, held on Jan 10. The team members took home a total cash prize of RM6,776. For being the champion team, they won RM5,888 cash, medals
and trophy, while for the best costume award the prize was RM888 cash.
A total of 13 lion dance teams from all over the country battled it out for the top prize.
Meanwhile, the second and third placed teams received cash prizes of RM3,888 and RM1,888 respectively.
Pasukan Tarian Singa Persatuan Tong Keow Bin took second position with Pertubuhan Penganut Agama Buddha Dou Mu Jiu Hwang Da Ti in third
placing. Meanwhile, Pusat Seni Hua Kwong and Persatuan Belia Perkampungan dan Tarian Singa Machang Bubok, both from Penang, took the two
consolation prizes.
They each won RM888 cash, medals and trophy. The Best Decoration of Equipment Award went to Baitiangong Lion Dance Troupe from Kuala
Lumpur. Yes Enterprise was the main sponsor for the event, which was supported by the Penang State Tourism Development & Culture
Department. Among those present at the event were Bayan Baru MP Sim Tze Tzin. Joining him were chairman of Komplexs Bukit Jambul Joint
Management Board, K.H. Chan, its vice-chairman Jugal Kishor Shivlal and director of Tourism Malaysia, Penang, Harun Pilus.
