WITH just about a week to go before the nation celebrates its 65th National Day, government bodies, businesses, hotels, shopping malls, and others are busily heightening the Merdeka mood among the people.
Over at The Granite Luxury Hotel (formerly known as M Summit 191 Executive Hotel Suites), Jalur Gemilang flags were given out to the hotel guests when they checked in at the hotel reception counter.
Hotel general manager Moh Wei Ken said The Granite Luxury Hotel was going all out to spread the Merdeka mood among its guests and staff.
“We are giving out Jalur Gemilang to our guests when they check in at the hotel reception counter. The little ones are all smiles when they receive the mini flags.
“Apart from this, we also wrapped the national flag around the pillars of our heritage shop lots in front of our hotel building.
“It is a double celebration for us because August is not only the Merdeka month, but we also kicked off our hotel’s rebranding exercise on Aug 1,” he said when met at the hotel today.
Moh said that with the exciting completion of the hotel’s new extension, it will be opening 56 more rooms and its new facility which has just bagged an entry in the Malaysia Book of Records as the Highest Cantilevered Acrylic Bottom Swimming Pool.
“On behalf of The Granite family, I want to wish all Malaysians a joyous National Day and let’s all continue to keep the country safe and growing,” he added.
The Jalur Gemilang flags were also put up in most parts of the iconic Komtar administrative building and along the streets in George Town.
Displaying love for both Penang and Malaysia, state and national flags were seen majestically flying side by side in several locations such as Burmah Road, Downing Street, and Jalan Pintal Tali.
