Banker wishes CM a happy Chinese New Year

OUTGOING Bank of China (Malaysia) Berhad Penang branch manager Hu Zhe paid a courtesy call on Chow Kon Yeow in Komtar today to wish the Penang chief minister a very happy and prosperous Chinese New Year.

 

During the visit, they engaged in a light-hearted conversation.

 

Hu also congratulated Chow for coming out of his self-quarantine safely after being a close contact of someone with Covid-19 while attending a function on Saturday.

 

Having been in Penang for about three years, Hu said he loves the state very much and hopes to return one day.

Chow expressed hopes that the banking business and other economic activities would pick up pace.

 

“Depending on what type of business you are in, some even performed better than before because of the new opportunities. Some may be eliminated in the process and some have to close shop. Probably they are unable to change the operation model.

 

“Now, the state looks forward to the economic recovery and growth,” Chow said.

 

He thanked Hu for his visit and wished him all the best in his new posting.

 

At the end of the visit, Hu presented a stamp collection commemorating the 100th anniversary of Bank of China (1912 – 2012). The bank, which celebrates its 110th anniversary this year, use the slogan ‘Bridge China and the World for the Common Good.’
