PENANG’s iconic building Komtar was transformed into a beacon of bright blue last night, on the eve of Labour Day.
The complex, which houses various state government offices and retail shops in its premises, was bathed with bright blue lighting from 8pm to 12am.
The city’s tallest building, which is in the heart of George Town, attracted the attention of passersby or residents staying within its vicinity.
The traffic there is understandably light due to the current movement control order (MCO).
Komtar assemblyman Teh Lai Heng told Buletin Mutiara that the building went blue to pay tribute to all the frontliners and other workers involved in battling the Covid-19 pandemic.
He said Komtar would be lit up in bright blue for four days beginning last night.
“This is a sign of support to those working tirelessly in this challenging period.
“They have been doing a magnificent job,” Teh added.
Hundreds of landmark buildings across the world also lit up in
blue to show solidarity with frontline workers.
