THE establishment of an Urban Transformation Centre (UTC) on the mainland will greatly benefit the residents of Seberang Perai.

K. Kumaran (PH-Bagan Dalam) noted that following its establishment in Komtar, the development of a UTC in Seberang Perai would spur economic growth in the area.

“It is a vital step to ensure smooth accessibility for mainlanders when visiting government agencies.

“This can help reduce the travel time for those seeking government services.

“It also helps to attract more investors to Seberang Perai, boosting the local economy on another side of Penang,” he said during the debate on the motion of thanks to the address by Yang di-Pertua Negeri Tun Ahmad Fuzi Abdul Razak at the State Legislative Assembly session today.

Kumaran said the quality of life for Seberang Perak folk would be improved if a UTC is built, highlighting the importance of digital transformation.

“I hope this initiative can be considered by the state government to help address traffic congestion,” he added.

Meanwhile, Connie Tan (PH-Seri Delima) said the actions of the contractor of the RM850mil Package Two bypass project, connecting Air Itam to the Tun Dr Lim Chong Eu Expressway, are unacceptable.

She praised the authorities for their swift action in issuing a stop-work order after receiving numerous complaints from her constituents.

“This has created a nuisance to my constituents, especially when construction works were carried out during the night or on weekends,” she said, pointing to a few incidents that have raised concerns among the residents of Seri Delima.
