LEADERSHIP and party loyalty go hand in hand, and for Chief Minister Chow Kon Yeow, holding a position within the Democratic Action Party (DAP) is both a duty and a necessity.
Addressing the media today, Chow firmly stated that as the state’s leader, it was only fitting that he maintained an active role in the party.
His remarks came in response to questions about the upcoming DAP Central Executive Committee (CEC) election, set to take place at the party’s 18th National Congress on March 16.
“I have been a DAP CEC member since 2001.
“As the chief minister, if I do not contest, I would simply be an ordinary party member without a position.
“I believe it is only right that the chief minister also has a role in the party,” Chow said.
Chow made these comments during the opening ceremony of the MBPP Home of Hope project at Lebuhraya Rose in George Town, a significant initiative launched in collaboration between the Penang Island City Council (MBPP) and the National Cancer Society Malaysia (NSCM).
More than just an extension of Penang Hospital’s oncology services, Home of Hope embodies holistic care.
From physiotherapy and dietary assistance to crucial emotional support, the centre aims to provide comprehensive aid to those battling cancer.
With the DAP CEC election on the horizon, Chow’s commitment to both governance and party leadership signals his ongoing dedication to serving Penang and its people.
