PENANG will continue to nurture and practice the 4P (public, private, people and professional) partnership in moving the state forward.
Chief Minister Chow Kon Yeow said the state was open to building successful partnerships.
“I have said before that even with the change of Federal Government, we cannot expect a lot of fundings from the Federal Government.
“We want to break away from the ‘old mode of Federal-state type of relationship’.
“We need to think differently,” Chow told the media after opening NEX 2018 Penang leadership conference at E&O Hotel Penang today.
Chow also said that it was not easy to bring back talents who had gone overseas.
“It will not be easy to bring them back.
“Most who have returned with their expertise did not find an ecosystem that they can perform,” Chow answering a question from a journalist.
During his speech, Chow said the conference aimed at inspiring, refreshing and challenging participants to nurture value-based leadership.
“The event is set to equip participants with fresh perspectives that are useful in the corporate world,” he said.
The three-day leadership conference which began today, will be the platform for local and international leaders to interact and share their leadership experience.
The conference was organised for the second time after it was successfully held in 2016.
NEX 2018 Penang chairman Datuk Jerry Chan thanked Chow and the state for their support.
“We want to thank the state for having an open door policy for businesses and public consultations,” he said.
The conference, which will be held until Saturday (Nov 10), will see participants learning from 20 speakers.
There will also be eight plenary discussions and eight in-depth and practical master classes.
Also present were state executive council members Chong Eng, Yeoh Soon Hin and Datuk Abdul Halim Hussain, and Chow’s wife Tan Lean Kee.
