THE CSR Flood Mitigation Project and Bandar Tasek Mutiara Linear Park’s official launch took place at Bandar Tasek Mutiara on Jan 22.
State exco member for Local Government, Traffic Management and Flood Mitigation Chow Kon Yeow was the guest of honour at the event.
Also present were Nibong Tebal MP Datuk Mansor Othman, Jawi assemblymember Soon Lip Chee, Seberang Perai Municipal Council (MPSP) president Datuk Maimunah Mohd. Sharif, Teh Kiak Seng, managing director and executive director of Tambun Indah Land Berhad and MPSP councillors Jason H’ng Mooi Lye and Heng Yeh Shiaun.
“The state government wishes to thank Tambun Indah for its initiative to take this project into their own hands. This project will hopefully decrease the impact on the area in case of a flash flood emergency,” said Chow during the officiating ceremony.
Chow added that the flood mitigation project and rebuilding the monsoon drain piping system here cost some RM1.42 million.
The cost of installing the park benches, jogging track and exercise equipment at the new park was about RM480,000 and is fully contributed by Teh.
The corporate social responsibility (CSR) flood mitigation project and Bandar Tasek Mutiara Linear Park cost a total of some RM1.9 million.
“Bandar Tasek Mutiara, especially Linear Park, has experienced a very serious flash flood on Nov 28,2013. This is truly a gift to the residents, public and MPSP,” said Maimunah.
