AFTER installing grease traps at several food complexes last year, the Seberang Perai Municipal Council (MPSP) is now checking the outcome of the effort.
Its president Datuk Rozali Mohamud and his team inspected Taman Tun Dr Awang complex in Bagan Ajam today.
“We have installed grease traps at this food complex in September last year.
“These traps are designed to filter fat, oil and grease to prevent food waste from clogging pipes or from being disposed directly into drains.
“Customers tend to patronise eateries that are clean and these traps help to ensure cleanliness is maintained,” he said.
Rozali added that grease traps were also installed at Desa Murnin complex in Sungai Dua, Taman Guar Perahu complex in Bukit Mertajam, as well as Taman Guru complex and Jalan Md Saad complex last year.
“The council has appointed Kitaran Potensi Sdn Bhd as the contractor to do the cleaning, maintenance and monitoring works of grease traps at the complexes.
“The cleaning of grease traps at those five complexes are conducted monthly.
“We hope to install grease traps at 39 food complexes in Seberang Perai by end of this year,” he said.
