PATIENTS waiting to undergo operations at the Penang Hospital will be much relieved as the upgrading works for its operation theatres has been completed.
State Agriculture and Agro-based Industry, Rural Development and Health Committee chairman Dr Afif Bahardin said the waiting time for sick patients would now be reduced with completion of the theatres.
He said many patients previously needed to travel all the way to Bukit Mertajam, Kepala Batas and Seberang Jaya government hospitals for surgeries to be carried out due to the upgrading process.
However, with the new operating rooms ready now, it will greatly benefit the islanders.
“Everything is past now as the project is fully completed,” he told reporters after visiting Penang Hospital today.
The theatres upgrading project is part of the second phase of Penang Hospital refurbishment works which started on Feb 17, 2016.
It involved other work scopes like the upgrading of air conditioning system and electric system at the operation theatres.
Dr Afif added that the contractor officially handed over the facilities to the Health Department today.
