TO all sports enthusiasts, mark your calendars for November 24, as Penang’s popular event, the ‘Love Penang Run,’ is back this year.
State Youth, Sports, and Health Committee chairman Daniel Gooi said that the run aims to highlight Penang’s uniqueness and unity among its people, as well as to encourage a healthy lifestyle.
“The ‘Love Penang’ campaign initiated by the state government aims to cultivate a sense of unity and pride among the people of Penang.
“It celebrates our state’s unique cultural heritage and encourages community engagement through various activities and events.
“The Love Penang Run is a perfect example of this campaign in action, promoting both physical health and strong communal spirit,” Gooi said during a press conference held at Komtar today.
Gooi also added that the Love Penang Run, which will be held at Beach Street, will start at 7am.
The run is organised by the Penang Forward Sports Club with the support of the state government.
Penang Forward Sports Club chairman Lim Choo Hooi shared that the registration fee is only RM17, which is inclusive of a T-shirt and a medal.
“A grand prize of a Perodua Axia awaits the lucky draw winner. In addition, there are 20 bicycles as lucky draw prizes. More lucky draw prizes will be added.
“The registration link will be posted on Aug 8 and please follow our official Facebook page (https://www.facebook.com/lovepenangrun?mibextid=LQQJ4d) for updates,” Lim said, while expecting some 10,000 participants to take part in the run.
Lim also thanked Datuk Tom Khoo, the adviser of Penang Forward Sports Club for sponsoring the grand prize.
