REGISTRATIONS for the upcoming LovePENANG Run 2024 have surpassed 10,000 participants to date.
Penang Chief Minister Chow Kon Yeow said the response was a testament to the growing enthusiasm and deepening connection residents have with their beloved state through community events.
The LovePENANG Run, in its third edition this year, is an initiative driven by the Penang government as part of the ❤️PENANG (LovePENANG) programme launched in 2022.
Organised by Penang Forward Sports Club alongside the Penang State Sports Council (MSNPP), and with the support of the state government, this year’s event is scheduled to take place on Sunday, Nov 24, beginning at 7am.
The LovePENANG Run will cover a scenic 5km route, starting from Lebuh Pantai in front of the OCBC Bank, proceeding through Jalan Sultan Ahmad Shah, Jalan Larut, Jalan Penang, Jalan Dr Lim Chwee Leong, and looping back to Lebuh Pantai
“Through this programme, I hope to see a growing sense of love and pride for our state among the people of Penang.
“This initiative is not only a chance to promote health and strengthen bonds within our community but also a symbol of unity and commitment to making Penang a better place for all.
“This event would not be possible without the generous support of our sponsors.
“We extend heartfelt gratitude to Datuk Tom Khoo, adviser to Penang Forward Sports Club, for his invaluable contribution, including the sponsorship of a Perodua Axia as the grand lucky draw prize for this year’s participants,” Chow said.
He also thanked the other sponsors, which include Decathlon Penang, MYUS Autorestari Sdn Bhd, Red One Marketing Sdn Bhd, Liquid Marketing Sdn Bhd, TG Ocean Health Food Industries Sdn Bhd, Teong Huat Medical Sdn Bhd, Daily Recipe Industries (M) Sdn Bhd, Lunarich (M) Sdn Bhd, Chek Hup Sdn Bhd, A. Clouet (Malaysia) Sdn Bhd, and Wedrink.
Registration for the LovePENANG Run is now closed, having reached its targeted number of participants. Those who have registered will receive an event t-shirt, a medal, an e-certificate, and be entered into the lucky draw.
“With engaging events like these, I believe we can bring together both the people and the leadership of Penang in a shared mission to lead healthier, more fulfilling lives,” Chow said.
Also present at the media conference were Penang Youth, Sports and Health Committee chairman Daniel Gooi Zi Sen, Chow’s senior confidential secretary Mohd Balkish Othman, Chow’s political secretary Lau Keng Ee, MSNPP director Harry Chai Heng Hua, and Penang Forward Sports Club chairman Lim Choo Hooi.
