MACALLUM neighbourhood is the latest area on Penang island to be illuminated by decorative lights and items in celebration of the upcoming Year of the Snake on Jan 29.
A total length of 400m of decorative lights were installed to create a festive and vibrant atmosphere, reflecting the spirit of Chinese New Year.
Pengkalan Kota assemblyman Wong Yuee Harng, who was present to witness the event, said Macallum is now among the locations adorned with the vibrant lighting displays for the festive season.
“We have lit up Cecil Street Market, and we are doing the same here. We hope the residents can truly experience the Chinese New Year atmosphere.
“We have also brightened up Macallum Market to add to the celebration,” he said during the ceremony held yesterday (Jan 23).
Wong expressed his gratitude to the Penang Island City Council (MBPP) for their assistance in installing the festive lights.
Also present were Komtar assemblyman Teh Lai Heng, Penang Island City Council (MBPP) mayor Datuk A. Rajendran, councillors Benji Ang, Lim Wei Lun,and The Learning Kingdom Education chief executive officer Dr Lee Eng Wah.
