MACHANG Bubuk assemblyman Lee Khai Loon was tested positive for Covid-19 while Penang Opposition Leader Datuk Muhamad Yusoff Mohd Nor was not feeling well and did not attend the Penang Legislative Assembly this morning.
Speaker Datuk Law Choo Kiang said Muhamad Yusoff (BN-Sungai Dua) had submitted his medical certificate, while Lee could not take part in the State Legislative Assembly because he was Covid-19 positive.
“In view of the rise in Covid-19 cases, I urge everyone to practise Covid-19 preventive actions to keep yourself safe from the coronavirus,” he said.
Later during the question-and-answer session, Penang Local Government, Housing, Town, and Country Planning Committee chairman Jagdeep Singh Deo took a swing at Dr Afif Bahardin (PPBM-Seberang Jaya) who was absent from the State Legislative Assembly.
“I can understand that a few oral questions were skipped because certain state assemblymen were not present due to health reasons.
“But where is Seberang Jaya? I am ready to answer his oral question, but he is not here (at the State Legislative Assembly). And because he is absent, his question was skipped.
“He is answerable to the voters of Seberang Jaya because he is the Seberang Jaya representative,” he added.
During a short break, Law told reporters that the august House received letters from Lee, Muhamad Yusoff and Muhammad Faiz Fadzil (PH-Permatang Pasir) for being absent.
However, Datuk Seri Saifuddin Nasution Ismail (PH-Pantai Jerejak), Zolkifly Md Lazim (PPBM-Teluk Bahang), Zulkifli Ibrahim (PPBM-Sungai Acheh) and Dr Afif were absent without letters.
