MAH raises concerns over traffic congestion to CM

THE team from the Malaysian Association of Hotels (MAH) this morning paid a courtesy visit on Chief Minister Chow Kon Yeow in Komtar.


The team comprised General Manager of Vouk Hotel Suites Khoo Boo Lim, General Manager of Hotel Neo Melvin Ooi, Operations Director of Vouk Hotel Management Dennis Cheng, General Manager of The Light Hotel Raj Kumar, General Manager of Hotel Sentral Georgetown Steven Ang, General Manager of Hotel Royal Penang Pierre Boudville and General Manager of Cititel Penang, The Wembley, Penang and Cititel Express, Penang.

Besides congratulating Chow for his first 120 days as the Chief Minister, the MAH team also highlighted several issues which need the state government’s assistance and involvement to make improvement.

Due to heavy traffic conditions for Penang and Seberang Perai, they raised concerns about the Penang Transport Master Plan (PTMP) and its completion.

The MAH team also revealed that during major festive seasons, many hotel guests were caught in the traffic congestion. They suggested that it will be good if there is a particular department to communicate with the hotels and public on proper traffic and logistics planning.

With regards to this, the MAH delegates also enquired the progress of the PTMP.

In replying MAH, the chief minister explained on Pan Island Link (PIL) 1 plan and he also briefed them on the progress of the Penang under sea tunnel project and Light Rail Transit (LRT).

“Issues raised will be taken into account and discussions will be held soon with the proper authorities for coming up with amicable solutions,” replied Chow.

During the courtesy visit, MAH stated that they had set up a booth at the recent Penang Street Food festival where the proceeds amounting to RM8,888 were channeled to ‘Tabung Harapan’.
