‘Maju Bersama’ Carnival received an overwhelming response from some 2,000 people when it was held at Taman Tunku in Seberang Jaya recently.
Seberang Jaya assemblyman Dr Afif Bahardin said the one-day carnival that was held for the second consecutive year was a joint collaboration between Prudential Assurance Malaysia Sdn Bhd and Seberang Jaya service centre.
“The programme’s main objective is to serve as a medium for the community to foster unity through various activities.
“Among the activities held were ‘Le Tour De Bendang’, sepak takraw competition, Masterchef cooking competition, 5km fun walk, Zumba dance, futsal competition, fishing competition, Muay Thai Seberang Jaya Challenge and many more.
“Through this carnival, the visitors also were exposed to some programmes or schemes run by the state government relating to agriculture, agro-based industries, rural development and health.
“Thus, apart from having fun with some great bonding activity, they are also equipped with some important knowledge to help them further in their daily life,” Dr Afif said in his statement on Dec 23.
‘Maju Bersama’ Carnival was also attended by a popular entrepreneur Mawar Abdul Karim.
Dr Afif, who is also the state Agriculture, Agro-based Industries, Rural Development and Health Committee chairman, said the programme would be continued in the following year based on the great support within the community.
“The support we received from the Seberang Jaya community was tremendous and thus I can proudly announce that such programme will be continued next year,” he added.
