THE Malaysia-China Cultural Exchange Group, in collaboration with the China Hefei Cultural Industry Development, will jointly host the Malaysia-China Cultural Exchange Exhibition at Straits Quay in Tanjong Tokong from May 3 to May 4.

One of the highlights of the exhibition will be the inclusion of art and cultural displays, along with antique appraisal activities.

About 10 to 20 valuable antiques are expected to be showcased during the two-day exhibition.

Pengkalan Kota assemblyman Wong Yuee Harng described the exhibition as a rare occurrence in Penang.

“Therefore, this is a great opportunity for the public to visit and experience the charm of cultural arts.

“A portion of the funds raised will be specifically donated to the Penang Komtar Lions Club’s Cataract and Corneal Lens Fund.

“We have maintained a long-term partnership with this Lions Club, and many B40 (low-income) residents in the Pengkalan Kota area have benefited from the fund.

“We hope visitors to the exhibition can also embrace the spirit of giving back to society and contribute to the Penang community,” he said.

Dr Leong Ping Chiau, a representative of the Malaysia-China Cultural Exchange Group, said the event will include antique collection exchanges and appraisal sessions, offering a platform for cultural and antique enthusiasts in Penang to connect and share information.

The exhibition will also showcase rare artifacts from China’s dynasties, offering the public a glimpse into China’s rich cultural heritage.

There will also be a talk on the background and significance of the antiques on display.

Komtar Lions Club president Datuk Henry Oh thanked the organisers for their support.

“The Cataract and Corneal Lens Fund sponsors about 30 to 40 cataract lenses annually, with each lens costing approximately RM4,000,” he said.
