Malaysian superbiker to create record in Ladakh, India

SUPERBIKE rider and multiple record holder for riding bikes in standing position, Datuk Seri Nadarajan Periasamy is all geared up to unlock a new achievement in a few more days.

Nadarajan is attempting to set a record with Kalam’s World Records for the ‘Longest Standing Motorcycle Ride in Ladakh’, covering a staggering distance of over 1,400km astride the Royal Enfield Himalayan.

According to Nadarajan, his journey will start on Aug 27 in Srinagar, India, and finish at the same point on Sept 2.

“I am 99.9 percent confident that I will be able to achieve the feat as I want to bring glory to our country,” Nadarajan said during a press conference in Perai on Aug 23.

In addition, Nadarajan shared that he will be escorted by two local marshals who will serve as guides, considering that there will not be any signals available in the area.

“The terrain in Ladakh presents the most challenging conditions for bikers, particularly on the mountain roads.

“Moreover, due to unpredictable weather conditions, the area can sometimes transform into a stream-like environment,” he said.

When asked about his preparation for his mission in Ladakh, Nadarajan said that he rises as early as 4.30 in the morning and goes hiking to build up his stamina.

“I am a mentally strong person, even if people say something negative, I will turn it into something positive for me,” Nadarajan added.

It is understood that Nadarajan was motivated to achieve remarkable feats in the field of superbikes following the loss of his only son in 2006.

Meanwhile, state Housing and Environment Committee chairman Datuk Seri Sundarajoo Somu, who is also the Perai assemblyman, wished Nadarajan a successful and safe mission.

“Nadarajan holds multiple records, including a world record for riding a bike in a standing position and has gone as far as 2,800km, which is not an easy feat.

“The terrain in Ladakh is rough and furthermore, it is snowing now over there. We wish him success and to return home safely.

“He wanted me to flag off his journey to Ladakh to mark my success as a Perai candidate as well as a gesture of celebrating Merdeka Day,” Sundarajoo said prior to taking part in the flagging-off ceremony.

The organiser for the event, P. Saravanan, said Ladakh is a well-known terrain among superbikers as it is the toughest and highest point in the world for biking activities.
