Mandatory biweekly RTK-Antigen test for MBPP staff

AS the country is moving towards the endemic phase, the Penang Island City Council (MBPP) will be embracing the green community approach starting from Oct 1 as a preventive measure against the coronavirus.

MBPP mayor Datuk Yew Tung Seang said the green community approach would require the MBPP staff to take the Covid-19 RTK-Antigen test prior to resuming work physically.

They need to self-test themselves once every two weeks and report the test result to their superiors.

“From Oct 1 onwards, all the council’s staff, including the frontliners, will need to conduct Covid-19 RTK-antigen test before coming to work.

“This also applies to MBBP’s clients who wish to visit the council’s premises. They must take the test before making appointment for their visit,’’ said Yew during a press conference held after chairing the full board meeting via Zoom.

According to Yew, the clients as for now can use the google form prepared by the council to declare their status of the RTK-Antigen test.

“Those who want to meet our officers physically are required to state the result of their RTK-Antigen test when making an appointment for the visit.

“Later, the MBPP will be coming up with another system to serve the same the purpose,’’ Yew added.
