THE ongoing Penang Covid-19 mass screening (PSC-19) can be held in any hot spots based on the advice from the state Health Department.
State Local Government, Housing, Town and Country Planning Committee chairman Jagdeep Singh Deo said they would do the necessary when anything arises.
“We will go to the ground if the area needs to be tackled. We have no problem with that.
“Our objective as of now is to complete the current screening programme for the 40 state constituencies.
“The main objective of this programme is to detect those infected with Covid-19 and will quarantine them,” he told reporters after inspecting the mass screening programme at the City Stadium today.
Jagdeep added that about 8,000 people had registered themselves for the programme, while the aim was to screen at least 1,000 adult population in every constituency.
In a related development, Jagdeep was commenting on the violation of standard operating procedures (SOPs) at Taman Pelangi, Bukit Mertajam.
“We will organise a mass screening there if the need arises,” he added.
