PENANG has ushered in the Year of Rabbit and it is hoped that the qualities of rabbits such as wisdom and dexterity continue to inspire Malaysia and its people to achieve more success.

Chief Minister Chow Kon Yeow said this when he attended the Penang Chinese Town Hall (PCTH) Chinese New Year open house this morning.

“We have stepped into 2023 with great determination. We strive to bring changes and to recover post-Covid-19 pandemic.

“The focus of the state government remains the same, which is to continue the recovery efforts towards the affected sectors in line with the Penang2030 vision.

“The state government wants to invite all members of the PCTH to strengthen the ties between the Penang government and PCTH, which have been forged for so long.

“And to strategically work as a big team to restore the state’s economy, and the economy of its people,” Chow added.

Chow thanked PCTH chairman Tan Sri Tan Khoon Hai and its members for their commitment, dedication and togetherness in organising valuable activities and programmes, in line with the state government’s policies and vision.

“Take advantage of this platform and continue to drive Penang to be the forefront of the national economy and a pioneer of innovation and domestic growth,” he said.

Meanwhile, Tan said the PCTH always upholds moderation and is against any form of extremism in the country.

“As Malaysia is a multicultural country we should be living harmoniously together, respecting each other, as well as supporting democratic unity,” Tan said.

At the event, children from various orphanages were also treated to a scrumptious lunch.
