THE Penang Island City Council (MBPP) is constantly carrying out upgrading work at premises under its administration in order to provide a conducive environment for both the traders and the public.
MBPP councillor Connie Tan said the council would take action to rectify the issue pertaining to roof leakages at the Jalan Halia temporary hawker site.
“Over the years we have enhanced the Jalan Halia temporary hawker site by equipping it with washing facilities (RM 19,190.24) flood walls (RM 6,784.14) as well as upgrading the flooring (RM 19,584.95) which amounts nearly to RM50,000.
“We will look into the complaints received pertaining to the roof leakages and will resolve it promptly.
“The council is constantly involved in the maintenance and upgrading work for all its premises including the temporary hawker sites,” said Tan during a press conference held today via Google Meet.
Meanwhile, Pulau Tikus assemblyman Chris Lee said another temporary hawker site at Kampung Sirih would be equipped with new facilities.
“MBPP will be building toilets and carrying out flooring work for the site to enhance its facility for the benefit of the visitors and also the traders.
“I believe that MBPP gives utmost importance when it comes to maintaining and upgrading the premises under its jurisdiction,” he said.
Lee also rebuffed the claims made by certain parties that the state government is being ignorant about the maintenance of the Jalan Halia temporary hawker site.
