TWO former Penang Island City Council (MBPP) councillors, namely Tan Hooi Peng (Connie) and Wong Yuee Harng, were among the 19 candidates announced by DAP recently to contest in the upcoming state election on Aug 12.
MBPP mayor Datuk A. Rajendran described Wong and Connie as energetic, dedicated and individuals with great charisma and character.
“Connie was the youngest ever MBPP councillor when she joined the frame in 2014.
“She is very dedicated to her work and has a warm personality and is easily liked by everyone.
“We wish her all the best in her next life journey, and we want her to know that her services to MBPP will always be remembered,” Rajendran said during MBPP’s ordinary meeting at City Hall, Esplanade today.
It is learnt that Connie, 33, was on study leave from 2016 to 2017.
As for Wong, 35, Rajendran said although small in size, he is someone with a big heart and was often spoken highly of due to his energetic and always ready-to-help personality.
“Our meetings were always made merrier when he was around. His amiable and jovial nature made him incredibly likeable.
“These two individuals will remain close in our hearts, and their services to MBPP will always be honoured.
“Thank you and all the best Connie and Wong,” Rajendran added.
