MBPP shuts down four dirty outlets for two weeks

FOUR food premises in Little India, George Town were ordered to close today following a check by the Penang Island City Council (MBPP) Licensing Department.

Led by its environment health licensing officer M. Bawani, the 12-member team carried out the spot checks from 10am to 3pm.

“Three compounds were issued for no typhoid injection and gross contamination with a fine value of RM260.

“Two premises were closed for the presence of cockroaches and the other two for presence of rats and carcass of rat.

“For the Year 2020, four health checks were carried out on 17 food premises resulting in the closure of 12 premises. Alongside this, 19 compounds were issued with a total find of RM1,300.

“Compounds were issued to educate the public on choosing clean and healthy eateries for their food,” she commented.
