THE Penang Island City Council (MBPP) has formed a smart partnership with Malaysian Administrative Modernisation and Management Planning Unit (Mampu) to strengthen its digital infrastructure in the state.
MBPP mayor Datuk Yew Tung Seang said the move to sign a services agreement with Mampu was crucial, in line with the local council’s Digital Transformation Plan 2021-2025.
“We thank Mampu for making this smart partnership a success. This effort to utilise MyGovCloud@PDSA enables us to boost our digital initiatives, which will benefit the community,” he said in his speech before signing the services agreement together with Mampu Infrastructure Communication and ICT Security Services Development Division director Nik Sharifah Nik Yusoff at the City Hall today.
According to Mampu’s website, the MyGovCloud@PDSA is a government private cloud computing service offered by the Public Sector Data Centre (PDSA) under Mampu to the public sector agencies. Two main services are offered, namely, data centre services and disaster recovery centre services.
Yew said the PDSA provided a Tier Four data centre of international standard.
“This smart partnership between MBPP and Mampu is timely and in line with the state’s vision of becoming a smart state.
“We are the first local government in the country to ride on this platform. We are able to save on installation and maintenance costs through this partnership,” he said.
Also present was MBPP secretary A. Rajendran.
