THE Seberang Perai City Council (MBSP) has collected a total of RM96.6 million in assessment tax between December 2020 and February this year.
MBSP mayor Datuk Rozali Mohamud said the amount has exceeded the early target of RM85 million set by the city council.
“Thus, I would like to thank the residents in Seberang Perai for fulfilling their responsibility.
“The percentage rate of cashless transactions for the entire MBSP revenue collection for 2021 has shown an increase of 11.5% compared to the same period last year from 119,752 transactions to 133,484 transactions.
“This shows that the people have started to adapt to the use of digital services in their daily life, especially during the Covid-19 pandemic.
“And I hope the use of digital services will continue to increase among the people in Seberang Perai,” Rozali told a press conference after chairing a full council meeting at the MBSP headquarters building in Bandar Perda, Bukit Mertajam yesterday (March 26).
Rozali said MBSP also has prepared 50 lucky draw prizes (including cash prizes) to reward those who paid their assessment fees online through agencies, banks or kiosks.
“Those who paid their assessment fees online from Dec 1, 2020 and Feb 28, 2021 are entitled for the lucky draw event.
“The top four winners will get RM10,000, RM5,000, RM3,000, and RM2,000 respectively.
“For fifth place until tenth place, they will be entitled for RM1,000 each.
“Meanwhile, for eleventh place until fiftieth place, they will get attractive prizes such as smartphones, televisions, air conditioners, bicycles, rice cookers, vacuum cleaner and many others,” he said before drawing for the winners yesterday.
Rozali said winners would be notified through a phone call, email or a letter based on their housing address.
“The public also can access the list of all lucky draw winners through MBSP website at https://www.mbsp.gov.my/ starting from March 27 (Saturday),” he added.
