MBSP mayor Datuk Azhar Arshad said SPCP 2023 contained 10 strategic priorities that will be focused on by the city council this year.
“This is important to ensure that Seberang Perai continues to thrive and remain competitive.
“The first five of the strategic priorities are a safe environment, quality facilities and infrastructure, healthy lifestyle, green development and clean environment, and the use of new technology.
“The other five are competitive urban economy, strengthening the culture and heritage, a resilient and livable city, community engagement and development of an inclusive and equitable city.
“In general, SPCP 2023 is a strategic document that highlights key performance indicators (KPIs) that are needed to be achieved by the MBSP this year for the betterment of the people in Seberang Perai.
“The document is also in line with the city council’s vision to make Seberang Perai a liveable, resilient, inclusive, green, competitive and smart city by 2030,” Azhar said in his speech after chairing a full council meeting at the MBSP headquarters building in Bandar Perda, Bukit Mertajam today.
During the same event, Azhar also launched the Strategic Plan for Gender Inclusiveness 2023-2025.

“The ratio comprises 40% women, 40% men and 20% for both men and women.
“The comprehensive plan also contains 56 programmes and 66 activities that will be carried out by the city council during the three years,” he said.
