THE Seberang Perai City Council (MBSP) has launched a five-year anti-corruption plan with the aim of making the city council free from any corruption by 2025.
Known as ‘Seberang Perai City Council Anti-Corruption Plan 2021-2025’, the plan is made by referring to the 2019 National Anti-Corruption Plan (NACP) to curb the culture of corruption in the country.
MBSP mayor Datuk Rozali Mohamud said the plan was prepared through a process that took into account the aspirations and hopes of the people of Seberang Perai in the fight against corruption.
“The plan has four main strategies and 46 initiatives that will be carried out in five years.
“The four main strategies are to strengthen the efficiency of public sector administration, to enhance the effectiveness and transparency of public procurement, institutionalising the credibility of law enforcement and to cultivate good governance within MBSP.
“With the anti-corruption plan, it shows our commitment to fight against corruption, misuse of power and other forms of bribery regardless of management position in MBSP.
“We are aware this is not something that could be easily achieved, but we have to start by placing policies as a foundation to form a culture and system that is based on good governance and integrity.
“And we hope within these five years, we will be able to make the council corruption-free a reality,” Rozali said in his speech before launching the plan at the MBSP building in Bandar Perda, Bukit Mertajam today.
Also present was MBSP secretary Rosnani Mahmod.
