THE Seberang Perai City Council (MBSP) has reopened its typhoid vaccination counter at the MBSP Sungai Jawi branch in Jawi, aiming to ensure compliance with food safety regulations among food handlers in Seberang Perai.
MBSP councillor Heng Yeh Shiuan stated that the initiative is crucial for safeguarding public health and maintaining hygiene standards in the food industry.

“Previously, the typhoid vaccination counter at this branch ceased operations in 2023 due to a shortage of staff and facilities. Additionally, the demand for typhoid vaccination services was relatively low at the time.
“However, following the success of our typhoid vaccination outreach programs on the mainland, particularly in south Seberang Perai, we have seen a significant increase in awareness and demand among food traders, handlers, and operators.
“This reflects a growing commitment to food safety within the community,” Heng told a press conference today.

Also present was MBSP councillor Predeeb Kumar Kalidass.
She further announced that the typhoid vaccination counter will operate from 9am to 4pm on the third week of every month.
To encourage more participation, MBSP is also offering a special promotion on typhoid vaccinations in conjunction with Universal Health Coverage (UHC) Day, which will run until March 31.
For added convenience, food handlers planning to receive the typhoid vaccine are encouraged to register an account through MBSP’s official website at https://emunisasi.mbsp.gov.my.
