Meals for the needy

SOME 1,500 packed meals were given to underprivileged families in conjunction with Maulidur Rasul today.

 

Muslims celebrate Maulidur Rasul today, the birthday of Prophet Muhammad, whose teachings exemplify universal values and humanity.

 

The food distribution programme was held at the Padang Brown Food Complex in Jalan Perak this morning. It was organised by Persatuan Peniaga-Peniaga Kompleks Padang Brown.

Its association chairman, Jamal Mohamad, said the annual initiative has been a tradition for the past 50 years.

 

“This food distribution programme has become an annual tradition for our association during Maulidur Rasul.

 

“We want to bring some relief to the less fortunate through this programme.

 

“It is part of our ongoing efforts to support those in need.

 

“The association will continue to plan and execute various community projects to further our mission of uplifting the community,” Jamal told reporters during the food distribution today.

 

Also present were Chief Minister Chow Kon Yeow and Tanjong MP Lim Hui Ying, who is also the Deputy Finance Minister II.

“I congratulate the Persatuan Peniaga-Peniaga Kompleks Padang Brown for organising this programme annually for the past 50 years.

 

“This shows that they care for the underprivileged community.

 

“And I hope this food distribution programme continues for many more years,” he said.
